Yes, it is done in a somewhat tasteful and clean way but it is very much there! As I am reading these books, I could not believe that my daughter had already read this!!!! We will be having some talks about what was read, for sure. There is alluding to sex and sexual behavior throughout. There is VERY heavy making out and petting throughout all of these books. I can’t believe that parents barely even mentioned it. But, please beware! The “sex” rating on these should have been much higher. Let me say that yes, this a a wonderful series and a wonderful story line and we both enjoyed them very much. Had I read them first, I would NOT have let her read these!! I let her read these books first and then I read them. After reading these reviews, I knew there would be some mature content but it was mild and I was confident she could handle it. I got these for my 13 year old daughter for Christmas. And the parents saying it is ok for a 10 year old? Even 13 year old? Maybe I am a little over protective but maybe there are other moms as well who would appreciate my honesty. I would have to say, with this series, that they really dropped the ball. I love common sense media and I use it religiously when reviewing movies and books for my kids.

Gardner is the exquisite exception, for he deserves credit for establishing the "annotated text" as we know it today. The most we can credit individuals with is significantly adding to or altering the course of the genre. Seldom can we point to an artist or team who first popularized the form. The novel, the serious play, the narrative poem, the opera, the musical, painting in oils or watercolors-no one person can claim actually to have established the genre. As we know so well, genres normally evolve rather than appear in an instant. It is a remarkable accomplishment, for with the publication in 1960 of the first Annotated Alice, Gardner established a new genre of literature. The annotated text à la Martin Gardner is different in that it ranges through multiple disciplines and takes the world for its oyster. But those that have come to us through the ages have consistently been narrowly restricted to single disciplines, to theological, philosophical, or other specialized commentaries. Marginal commentaries of texts are not new they have been with us for centuries, particularly commentaries on the Bible. However the accents, unlike the many LGBT+ audiobooks with cheap production values and are simply spoken in the narrator's voice, makes for very clear listening with no need to keep winding back to work out who is speaking. The narrator is good at differentiating characters by using different accents even though even though some of these are cringe worthy. It is a real shame because Andrea Bramhall is a good writer who always includes new and interesting plot lines in her work and I always look forward to listening to her audiobooks. Because of the lack of a sequel the ending is a massive let down and spoils this book. She’s not entirely sure how she feels about the life-upending chaos that ensues, which includes meeting an attractive, perfectionist film producer. So, as listeners, we are left waiting for something that will never come. Lost for Words By Andrea Bramhall Massage therapist Sasha’s meddlesome mother and best friend conspire to shake up her mundane existence by entering her into a scriptwriting contest. Andrea Bramhall was obviously intending to publish a sequel but by 2021, so far as I can see, she has not done. A major flaw of this 2012 book, however, is that the story ends on a cliffhanger and leaves the listener hanging in mid air. The characters are interesting and well constructed too although Andrea Bramhall does not achieve the poignancy and depth of her later novels. It held my interest throughout and avoids the repetitive semi-literate sentence construction, descriptions of clothes, sex and other padding that marrs many other lesbian love stories. This early book is not Andrea Bramhall at her best but is very enjoyable nevertheless.
